You can always check the Weekday Routes for Route 96 and Route 98 for more details.

As I sat through a funeral viewing, mass, burial and reception the other day, I started reading through a mini-version of the Farmer's Almanac left out for visitors at the funeral home.  This particular family member had lived a long, beautiful life, and it was time for her to re-join her husband of 57 years of marriage.  In the funeral home, your mind always races around trying to figure out who everyone is or why people react so differently to death?!?  People tend to get philosophical or start to look at their own lives.  It can be a very enlightening time...sitting there...thinking. 

This entire family celebrated a life today vs. mourning her death.  This woman had lost her husband as well as her oldest son 2 years prior.  I sat thinking about how wonderful her life was when she was younger and healthier.  I wondered how often she had wished for more wealth, happiness, and friends.  The more I thought about her, the more I thought about my own life and how I would be remembered.  Here's a few things that crossed my mind...

1. Success is determined by how determined you are to succeed.
2. People are lonely because the build walls instead of bridges.
3. It's okay to use friendship as a drawing account, but don't forget your deposits.
4. What you are is more important than what you've got.
5. The real secret to happiness is not what you give or receive, but what you share.

Life is short...handle with care!  Every step leaves a mark on "someone's life" so be responsible, be genuine, be yourself.  Most of all, "be your best" to your family not just your clients and friends!

I wonder how many people know about this? A 36 year old female had an accident several weeks ago and Totaled her car. A resident of Kilgore , Texas she was traveling between Gladewater & Kilgore. It was raining, though not excessively, when her car suddenly began to hydro-plane and literally flew through the air. She was not seriously injured but very stunned at the sudden occurrence!

When she explained to the highway patrolman what had happened he told her something that every driver should know - NEVER DRIVE IN THE RAIN WITH YOUR CRUISE CONTROL ON. She thought she was being cautious by setting the cruise control and maintaining a safe consistent speed in the rain.

But the highway patrolman told her that if the cruise control is on when your car begins to hydro-plane and your tires lose contact with the pavement, your car will accelerate to a higher rate of speed making you take off like an airplane. She told the patrolman that was exactly what had occurred.

The patrolman said this warning should be listed, on the driver's seat sun-visor - NEVER USE THE CRUISE CONTROL WHEN THE PAVEMENT IS WET OR ICY, along with the airbag warning. We tell our teenagers to set the cruise control and drive a safe speed - but we don't tell them to use the cruise control only when the pavement is dry.

The only person the accident victim found, who knew this (besides the patrolman), was a man who had had a similar accident, totaled his car and sustained severe injuries.

If you send this to 15 people and only one of them doesn't know about this, then it was all worth it. You might have saved a life.

NOTE: Some vehicles (like the Toyota Sienna Limited XLE) will not allow you to set the cruise control when the windshield wipers are on.

I can't believe we're coming up on the 6th Anniversary of this tragedy that struck our United States of America.  This is one of those times when you will FOREVER know where you were when the news came in about The World Trade Center.  I was at home cleaning my house.  I had called a few friends in-between playing with my 15 month old.  I had been living in my "brand new house" for all of 6 weeks.  My parents (who travel regularly) were in Canada as far as I knew and I had hoped they wouldn't have any trouble getting back to the United States.  My older son was in school and would be for several more hours.  President Bush was reading a book to kids in Sarasota, FL.  THE CALL CAME FROM a friend who's husband was in the military at the time.  I knew NOTHING as I had not turned on the tv, like normal.  My friend had called me back around 9:30 and told me to turn on the tv set that SOMEONE had just hit the World Trade Center with an airplane in New York.  DO WHAT?!?!?!  Soo...I turned on the television set, and the rest is history...   I sat through my hair appointment as the 2nd tower fell just crying uncontrollably wonder how this could be happening.  For days...I was GLUED TO CNN and MSNBC. 

Remember the outpour of support for our country? Remember all the flags flying as firefighters continued to search for more survivors in the rubble?  Remember when they found the United States Flag still flying off the roof of The Pentagon?  THAT was INCREDIBLE!! 

Remember the "Stars in Hollywood" showing their support and donating some of their "hard earned money" to support families and victims of 9/11?  Remember all the songs that were written about and for 9/11?  (turn up the volume)

Remember how you felt that day?  How scared or terrified you felt?  How unsafe you realized our airports and securities were?  Remember how deathly afraid you were to fly or let someone you know and love fly anywhere?  Do you still "think about 9/11/2001 when you're headed for the airport knowing it could've been you on Flight 93 just headed somewhere else that time?

• Wear Red, White and Blue
• Say a prayer for those who died that day
• Blog about it
• Thank a Veteran
• Remind your children why 9/11 is so important to the U.S.?
• Watch all the documentaries "that night" in their honor?
• Attend a vigil in your community?
• Send a THANK YOU CARD to a SOLDIER fighting for your freedom in Iraq?

My Father is retired USAF so I grew up with plenty of friends and family living the military life.  This could've been my Father who was sent to War...but it wasn't.  However, I do have a niece and nephew over there who are very young, I also have some neighbors who have husbands there.  They all deserve to be thanked for putting their lives on the line day after day after day to PREVENT another 9/11/01.
